Hong Kong in motion is a special collection of images capturing the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city of Hong Kong. In order to capture the feeling of motion in still images I have used a mixture of long exposures panning techniques to capture the motion of the city’s transport system that moves millions of people every day.
The use of selected colours and desaturation in my Hong Kong in motion images allowed me to keep a similar colour theme across all of these images. To add a slight rough and gritty look to the images I have double processed the images allowing more clarity and texture to the photographs.
It is amazing that this city with a population of 7.5 million is able to operate a transport system that effortlessly moves the population across the city on a daily basis. My favourite if the old style tram system on Hong Kong island which are captured in many of my photographs. These trams started operating as single deck in 1904 and in 1912 the first double deck trams were introduced. In 1865 due to high demand a single decker trailer was added to the trams to increase capacity, these were eventually withdrawn in 1982. Today HK tramways still operates
